
Opened in 1972, Kurumba Maldives is the first resort ever opened in Maldives. A complete reconstruction of the resort have taken place in 2003 and it has emerged as a grand resort of distinctive style and panache. Kurumba Maldives is just 15 minutes away from Male' International Airport by speedboat.
The name of the resort 'Kurumba' is derived from the coconut palms that grow in the Maldives in glorious abundance. The resort lovingly nurtured tropical gardens features an orchid nursery. Shaded paths on one side of the 30-acre circular island leads to the other side. The white sandy beaches are protected by eco-breakwaters or weathered coral.
A total of 180 bungalows and villas dotted throughout the island within verdant foilage is only a pace or two from the beach, Kurumba Maldives offer a wide range of luxurious accomodation. All the rooms and villas have wooden floors and are elegantly furnished with solid timbre furniture.
